Edward Roekaert Embrechts
Rector & CEO of UPC-PERU
UPC-PERU is aligned with the concept of Sustainability of the United Nations, which defines sustainability as "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." Following this concept, UPC-PERU provides inclusive and quality education for the training of professionals who can contribute to the sustainable development of society, promotes research aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, encourages the relationship and interaction between the university community, and the general community, and works in the efficient and responsible management of its operations, promoting responsible behavior of sustainable practices on campus.
Sustainability is part of the strategic pillars of UPC-PERU as expressed in its sustainability and social responsibility policy, which aims to establish the guidelines for its development to manage social, economic, and environmental impact, and to promote the formation of leaders who are agents of change, who through inclusive and quality education, can contribute to the creation of a sustainable society, generating positive value through their social, environmental and good governance commitment, and thus contribute to the transformation and development of the country. We have four strategic pillars that define, align, and prioritize our objectives and actions: inclusive and quality education, social impact, research and technology, and sustainable campus management. UPC-PERU counts with a Sustainability and Social Responsibility Department, which leads, designs, manages, develops, implements, and supervises the sustainability and social responsibility strategy at the institutional level; and likewise, articulates and ensures compliance with the objectives within the framework of the established strategic pillars.
